Buddy Popps - Back for his 18th consecutive year. Buddy has been called the "Funniest Musician Ever." He is a talented guitarist and singer playing easy going contemporary music, such as Jimmy Buffet and Gordon Lightfoot hits, along with his hilarious original tunes. Buddy Popps always provides an entertaining evening.

Edye Evans Hyde has been performing jazz, blues and pop music for over 20 years in West Michigan, Los Angeles and Asia. Edye has shared the stage with world renowned blues singer Linda Hopkins, pop singer Michael Bolton, actress Connie Stevens, the late Ray Charles and Cuban trumpet player, Arturol Sandoval. Edye has also appeared with The Grand Rapids Symphony and The West Shore Symphony performing songs from her acclaimed CD’s Girl Talk, and Lady with A Song.

Evan Hyde is our scholarship recipient for the past school year, and attends Western Michigan University. He is the son of vocalist Edye Evans Hyde and guitarist Mike Hyde, with whom he appeared at one of our Jazz Gumbo events last year. All of the players except the pianist are students at WMU.

Terry Lower Pianist/Composer After studying composing/arranging and performance at Berklee School of Music in Boston, Terry returned to Michigan and for over 30 years has been active on the Jazz scene both here and abroad performing and/or recording with many Jazz greats including Frank Morgan, David “Fathead” Newman, Bobby Shew, Hendrik Meurkins, Kevin Mahogany and Benny Golson to name a few.
As a “sideman” for a variety of different groups including performances with Eddie Daniels, Jennifer Holiday, Bernadette Peters, The Nelson Riddle and Jimmy Dorsey Orchestras, Terry has been getting more recognition in recent years as the leader of his own Jazz Trio and Septet including performances at the “Michigan Jazz Festival” and the renowned “Detroit/Montreux International Jazz Festival.

Ken Morgan is a wonderful jazz saxophonist and flute player from Kalamazoo who has a good following in this area.
Denis Shebukhov is one of our favorite bass players who hails from Russia. He's on a 2 week vacation here visiting some of his Kalamazoo area friends (a WMU graduate) before returning to Russia for a 2 month visit at home with his family. Then will be returning to the USA to go back on the cruise ships as a jazz bandleader.
Jon Wegge is relatively new to this area after studying/living in Chicago. He's a wonderful bass player and a big "musical asset" to this area.
Rob Smith travelled the world with Woody Herman's Big Band and has performed at The Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Now, Rob is the director of Jazz Studies at Central Michigan University.
